General Workshop Information

E.B. offers beginner to advanced workshops covering landscape painting. These workshops delve into art theory, the study of light and value, texture and shape, all while improving your technical skills in watercolor.

Navigating Watercolor: A Watercolor Masterclass with E.B. Lewis for Beginner and Advanced Students

Offering a Workshop in Landscape Painting (a student majority will choose one or the other)

Join E.B. Lewis for an extraordinary workshop in watercolor in landscape painting. Working from photos, E.B. will demonstrate and guide you through the techniques of planning your compositions, drawing, mixing color and creating great backgrounds. He will show you how to work with the photos, avoid mistakes and give personal critiques and great tips for marketing your work.

Watercolor Workshop Supply List: (preferred)

  • Watercolor Paper: at least 3 sheets of Arches Natural White 300lb, 240 lb or 140 Cold Press 22”x 30,” or your preferred paper
  • 8.5” x 11” x 1⁄2” thick Gatorfoam TM board (the hard, extruded polystyrene foam encased between layers of a clay coated hard layers.) or Homasote TM board (compressed cellulose based fiber wall board from standard hardware stores) or similar sturdy flat board for stapling and stretching and working on the paper
  • Large container for water (4 qt-gallon size)
  • Staple gun with 1/4”staples,
  • 3⁄4” wide masking tape
  • Several 8.5” x.14” pieces watercolor paper
  • Watercolor paints
  • Tape
  • Drawing pencils
  • Watercolor brushes – preferably sable


About E.B. Lewis

E.B. Lewis has been a professional teaching artist for over 35 years. He continues his work as an award winning fine artist, illustrator and educator. A natural born teacher, EB shines and engages at all types of events; school talks, workshops, fine art exhibits and book signings.

E.B.’s fine artwork can be found on display throughout the year. Considered a master artist, the fine art of EB Lewis emotes a rich, cultural understanding of his surroundings and subjects.

E.B. Lewis has illustrated over seventy books for children, including Nikki Grimes’ “Talkin’ About Bessie: The Story of Aviator Elizabeth Coleman”, the 2003 Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award Winner; Alice Schertle’s “Down the Road”, an ALA Notable Book; Tolowa M. Mollel’s “My Rows and Piles of Coins”, an ALA Notable Book and Coretta Scott King Honor Book; “Bat Boy and His Violin” by Garvin Curtis a Coretta Scott King Honor Book, and Jacqueline Woodson’s “The Other Side”, a 2002 Notable Book for the Language Arts.
